Car Sales are down by 30.5% in March compared with March last year.
Only 313,912 cars where registered last month, guessing that most of them will still be on forecourts. The car sales are down 29.7% for the first few months of this year, and its noticeable on the roads as well as you don’t see many 09 plated cars compared to how quickly 08 plate’s appeared on the road.

SMMT chief executive MR P Everitt stated: “March new-car registrations are a barometer of confidence in the economy, from businesses and consumers alike. The evidence is clear that schemes already implemented across Europe do work to increase demand. The UK is the only major European market not to implement a scheme.”
The UK’s motor industry has been screaming at the UK Government to deploy a scrappage scheme where consumers would get cash incentive to trade their car in for a new model that is greener and have lower emissions.

The new Ford Fiesta was the best selling car for March 09 which is its fifth month of been top of the sales. Sales of Diesels are also up 3% over this time last year.
