The Insignia VXR 2.8 is also a good used car choice from Vauxhall.  This sporty car boasts excellent performance and handling.  It is sure to be a fun ride.  Second hand Insignias are also very practical choices.  They have a lot of space available inside, and are extremely fast.  On top of that, they are very reliable.  The engine rarely has issues.  In general, Vauxhalls are regarded as very safe cars.

The Vectra VXR Estate is not as sleek and stylish as a sporty Insignia, but it is a practical and reliable used car.  It can fit five people and has a surprising amount of space inside.  As an unexpected bonus, the car is remarkably fast, making it a fun choice.  The downside to this vehicle is the cost of ownership.  It can cost a lot of money to own this car over an extended period of time. 

One of the most affordable, and therefore one of the most popular used Vauxhalls on the market today, is the Corsa.  There are various models in the range, so which one you buy largely depends on your budget.  Due to its small engine and body size this car makes an excellent first car and many buyers of used models are youngsters fresh from passing their driving test.

Another very popular used Vauxhall is the Astra.  Slightly larger than the Corsa, the Vauxhall Astra is also naturally more expensive second-hand.  However, depending on your budget, you should be able to find a used Vauxhall Astra that will fit the bill.  The range of specifications is vast, so that fact, and the age of the car you have in mind, should ensure that you could find something to suit your pocket.  In addition to sports models, the Astra was also released as an estate version, so you will have a wide range of choice if you decide this is the used car for you.

Finally, another extremely popular used Vauxhall model is the Zafira.  With up to seven seats and substantial baggage space, the Zafira is the ultimate family car in the used Vauxhall range.  Due to its size, you may find the asking price is at the more expensive end of the scale, but having been around for a number of years the chances are that you will manage to find a Zafira to suit your budget.

The Insignia has taken the place of the Vectra as Vauxhall’s chief medium saloon and it is a big improvement. Whilst it hasn’t got the effortless power of the bigger German beasts, it handles motorway speeds gracefully and smoothly. It does have a slight tendency to notice small bumps (or, at least, to make you notice them) but at higher speeds you’ll just be floating. As with the Vectra, you’ll have a broad choice of engines, from the 1.8 litre, 140 bhp petrol to the 2.8 litre, 256 bhp V6 turbo, which can hit 62 mph in 6.7 seconds. A good option is the 2.0 litre, 158 bhp CDTi 160, which delivers 48.7 mpg and gets to 62 mph n a very respectable 8.9 seconds.

As a medium level executive car, the Insignia is classy and economical.
