Fuel Prices On The Up

Add comments

Petrol is back on the rise rather sharply ever since the fuel duty increase that was applied on the 1st of April.
Prices have risen by 4.5p. Unleaded was at the price of around 88.5p before the price rise and the lowest that we have found around our area is 92.9p, we wouldn’t be surprised to see it at 93p by the end of the week.

Diesel hasn’t risen quite as sharply as unleaded, but it has still risen by 2.9p on average which makes it use over £1 per litre. In some areas its costing £1.02p per litre.

AA president Mr E King said: ‘It’s not clear whether it is the stock markets or the oil industry trying to pump up the value of oil. However, with laden tankers moored off-shore indicating major stock surpluses, there is growing concern that the fundamentals of supply and demand are not being reflected in prices.
‘Increases in fuel duty by the Government are also contributing.’
